Chai Tea or Chai Tea: Which is Correct?
Chai is a deliciously sweet, spicy brew that’s made with black tea, milk, and aromatic spices. This irresistible blend is a product of India and has become a formidable rival to hot chocolates and coffees.
Is Chai a Tea
Yes! It is! When people talk about chai they are usually referring to masala Chai which is the milky, spiced tea that you know and love.
Chai is not brewed with water as normal tea. Instead, it is brewed with warm milk and sweetened to your liking. Chai is sometimes served as a cafe latte, with cinnamon and froth. This is not a coffee brew. It is still tea.
What is Prana Chai ?…? A Wonderful Tea
Masala Chai is a blend of black tea, spices, milk, and sweetener. Cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and cloves are the most popular spices in chai tea. They give it a bold, fragrant flavour. You can also add bay leaves, star anise and turmeric to your chai tea.
Prana Chai Original Masala Mix contains 100% black tea, cardamom and cinnamon. It also includes peppercorns and ginger to give it a kick.
Chai is typically steeped with warm milk. It is traditionally made with buffalo milk in India. However, they usually use cow’s milk. Soy, almond, rice and coconut milk are great alternatives.
Who doesn’t like a little sweetness? A chai tea is usually prepared with sugar. Prana Chai makes it easier for you by including honey in its blends, which adds an instant sweetness. There are many other options, such as coconut sugar and jaggery. Vegan Blend uses agave syrup in place of honey. It’s all about customizing this heavenly blend to your liking. They don’t care if you add a few more honey.
There are many options for chai tea, including powdered, tea bags and concentrates. But they believe that the best combination of real tea leaves and whole spices is what you get from a chai shop.
Does Chai Have Caffeine?
Although chai is made with tea, it is not a substitute for coffee. However, does it have the same amount of caffeine as a cup? Not at all. Although chai with tea contains caffeine, it won’t be as strong as regular coffee.
Do you think that’s a reason to stop drinking this delicious brew? Absolutely not. We’re not saying this because we are biased. Chai has many benefits that will improve your focus and clarity, even if you don’t drink as much coffee.
How Much Caffeine Does Chai Have?
Chai is made from warm milk, sweetener, spices and black tea. Except for a decaffeinated chai that you are purchasing, all black teas contain caffeine. There are many factors that affect how much caffeine you can get in a cup.
A cup of Prana Chai may contain between 20 to 100mg of caffeine depending on how it is prepared. You can reduce the steeping time by up to 80%.
The caffeine content of “Chai lattes”, whether they are made with concentrates or powders, may be lower than that found in the blend. A cup of chai powdered contains 25 to 55mg caffeine, while a cup of concentrate has 30 to 35mg.
This is compared to the 120mg found in an average cup of coffee. It’s clear that you will want to keep your coffee beans fresh if you want to make a vibrant bag of beans.
It’s not that simple. Caffeine interacts with the tea’s tannin, which helps calm the nervous system. It is a substance that slows down the body’s absorption of caffeine, which allows you to get into a calm and focused state without experiencing hyperactivity like with coffee.

The quality of the blend used and the spices used will determine the benefits of chai. We have listed the top health benefits of some popular chai ingredients. All of them are in Prana Chai’s signature blend.
Masala Chai’s Base: Black Tea
The antioxidants in black tea are abundant. They are well-known for reducing cell damage caused by aging and removing free radicals. Polyphenols are a family of antioxidants found within black tea. Studies have shown that they can lower blood sugar and cholesterol.

How to Make Masala Chai at Your Home
Now you have a large bag of Prana Chai, and are ready to inhale the delicious flavours.
How do you make homemade chai that tastes exactly like the one you love? Even better, how can you top it off?
There are many ways to make your favorite cup of coffee, but we prefer two. First, you must know what ingredients go into your chai.
What are the Ingredients in Chai?
You can make any heavenly brew you want. Prana Chai Original Masala blend, for instance, contains 100% black Ceylon tea and cardamom. It also includes cinnamon, peppercorns, ginger, star anise cloves, salt, and Australian Bushland Honey.
You don’t have to miss out if you are vegan or diabetic. Instead, grab a bag of the Vegan Blend. This blend replaces honey with agave syrup for a lower GI and a sweeter taste.
You can add more ingredients to your chai. The Turmeric Blend makes a warm drink, while the Peppermint Blend gives you a refreshing taste on warmer days.
You’ll also need to have a bag of Prana Chai. Some people find that dairy can overwhelm the subtle flavors of the spices, so they prefer to drink nut- and earthy-based milks. If you like your chai sweet, add a little more sugar.
How to make Chai
These two methods cover making a chai. You can choose the one that suits you best. You can grab all the equipment you need in one of their Prana Chai Starter Boxes. It includes a stovetop pot, strainer and mug.
The Stovetop
- Get a high-quality Turkish teapot or small saucepan, with a spout.
- Two heaped teaspoons (20-25g) of your favorite Prana Chai blend are to be added to the pot.
- You can add any sweetener you like (they prefer honey).
- You can also add your favorite milk, such as soy milk or almond milk.
- Place the teapot on the stove. Heat to a boil. Heat the teapot until it is hot, or just barely simmering. It may take up to three minutes.
- Set aside the pot and wait for the leaves to open. You may find your brew stronger and more bitter if you leave it longer.
- If you are sharing the brew with friends, strain it into a cup or a teapot.
- Keep your feet on the ground!
A Coffee Machine
- Buy a quality milk jug.
- Two heaped teaspoons of your favorite Prana Chai mix are all you need.
- If you prefer it sweeter, add more honey or sugar.
- Boil some water to cover the chai. Allow it to sit for 2 minutes to let the honey and spices activate.
- The frother can heat up your milk to 65 degrees Celsius while they are infusing. If possible, prepare the milk flat without bubbles. This will improve the efficiency of your infusion.
- Mix the milk with the rest of the mixture. You can also pour your milk straight into a jug, and blend it.
- Enjoy one cup of coffee in a cup with a strainer.
